Alessandro17
http://distrowatch.com/?newsid=04970 Parsix is a very nice, rock solid GNOME distro based on Debian Testing. After a 2-week delay, we proudly announce the immediate availability of Parsix GNU/Linux 1.5r0, code name 'Viola'. Parsix Viola brings several new features and it includes a new kernel, updated software packages, updated documentation, improved installer system, and several fixes for reported defects. This version is synchronized with Parsix and Debian testing repositories as of Jun 25, 2008. Several bugs have been solved. Replaced GQView with gThumb, Camorama with Cheese, and re-added iptraf and nmap. Parsix Viola officially supports Compiz Fusion, VirtualBox-OSE, and GNU Flash Player. Highlights: GNOME 2.22.2, X.Org 7.3, Linux kernel 2.6.24.4, OpenOffice.org 2.4.0 and GNU Iceweasel 3.0 RC2 Parsix is "The Debian/GNOME distro done right" Well worth a try, IMO. (Not the most beautiful wallpaper I have ever seen, but that is easily replaced).
johnniecarcinogen
Easily copied on any gnome by changing color schemes etc.: the theme (used blended) can be installed on any gnome environment by just extracting this: gnomezune to ~/.themes
Alessandro17
OK, thanks, but my point is that Parsix is a GNOME distro based on REAL Debian.
Alessandro17
New updated release: http://distrowatch.com/?newsid=05020 what does Parsix add to Debian (or, rather, Kanotix) besides better Farsi-language support? Their website seems kinda sparse on details. Easy and fast install. Kanotix scripts (that is what made Kanotix great). Add the Kanotix repo. Ask me for a complete sources.list. Great (Kanotix) hardware detection and better support for a lot of things, for instance wireless. Better look than default Debian Gnome. Based on the latest Debian Lenny. Kanotix OTOH is based on Debian Stale (sorry, I mean Stable). Personally I have found it impossible to upgrade it to Lenny without breaking your system.
