Hi guys all new to this. A bit overwhelming at times. Got my 10.5.2 kalyway image working on my pavilion. A few things I don't understand, even from reading all the posts. Firstly I need help with a solution for the sleep function. When my hp goes to sleep,it will not resume. Also when shutting the lid it has no effect. Is there a patch for this?

I have read up that the Intel Pro/Wireless 3945 A/B/G Network card is hard to get working. I have experienced this also. A pain. Does any one have any drivers that they have tried that work??

If this does not work, I saw that you could replace the wireless card that would work. Could someone give me some suggestions please in this area.

 

With the Kalaway 10.5.2 image, will it update the kernel part of it? (To later than 10.5.2) Would this fix any of the issues above?

Replace card with this

Dell Truemobile DW-1490 Wireless Card 802.11b/g - JC977 (search ebay where i bought one. Changed and worked without any configuration). New version of Kaly will not do anything. There is no driver and will never be (6 months trying everything).

 

Problems with sleep, try this for Kalyway 10.5.2-3

 

boot F8 -kernel=sleepkernel

 

if that doesnt work, try with kernel=modbinkernel

I think I tracked down a Broadcom 4318MP 802.11G 54Mbps WiFi mini PCI adapter

I did a bit of quick reading and think this will go O.K. It was one of the few avaliable in AUS that I could find without to much fuss. I understand that I will have to patch my HP bios so that it will recognise the card.

 

I cannot understand the keyboard setup. I know I cannot use the 'control' key that is used on the mac keyboard. Is there a way to substitute the windows key etc to replicate the mac keyboard on the windows keyboard as close as possible?

 

Thanks again for your help. I am almost at a stage of a full setup/function. theonly one I am having problem with is a usb digital tv tuner
