justroach
Trying to get 140W of heat out of my box I dropped in some pimp new L5420s (hopefully L5430s soon), but while the OS seems to work the sound is completely garble no matter what is playing. I am using a cheap, USB sound device that works instantly when I pop the X5365s back in as well as on other machines. Both procs use the same FSB (1333) and I have tried the fsb kernel option as well. Anyone got any ideas on a fix? My system: Tyan S5397 (Seaburg chipset supporting 1600Mhz FSB) L5420 procs 10.5.3 with 9.3 vanilla kernel Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/112471-garbled-sound-after-proc-swap-x5365-l5420/ Share on other sites
justroach
The solution is to use Chameleon because of its FSB detection. I found this same issue on the Intel S5000PSL board.
