I installed Kalyway's most excellent "Leopard_10.5.2_DVD_Intel_Amd" DVD on my AMD rig and It works like a charm, my question now has to do with the 10.5.3 update, I'm interested in iPhone SDK development and was wondering...

Is there an Update to 10.5.3 available?

Must I have 10.5.3 to install the iPhone SDK?

Any feedback on the above issues would be greatly appreciated.

BTW my compliments to Kalyway on a most excellent piece of work!!!!!

Next step for me: to buy a Macbook (as soon as I can afford it!!!! bye bye Vista!!!)

i was trying to install the iPhone developer SDK too. but it requires 10.5.3 but i have 10.5.2 . updating to 10.5.3 from software update doesn't boot up my system. the other methods also failed. so a lil trick to manually change the version name should work in this case

see this post for details.. http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?s=&...st&p=430820

read on the front page that the 10.5.3 update was safe as long as you use vanilla..

I beg to differ, thanks alot, now i have a brick where my hackintosh used to be.

HELP!

it starts to boot but i get the "you must restart your computer..." message.

safe boot no luck

anyone? I finally got the dang thing working like i wanted to, and now its a brick.

Hopefully, you didn't use "Software Update" to upgrade to 10.5.3.

After backing up you extensions folder, you need to do this...

That information is available on a large number of postings. Hopefully your future searches will provide you with better results.

Depending on how you did the install, you may need to start from scratch. I can confirm that by following the above instructions that 10.5.3 works great (except for shutdown, restart, and sleep)

If you've got 10.5.2 installed and working perfectly, then I would recommend waiting for 2-3 weeks until 10.5.4 comes out.

If you really want 10.5.3, then Kalyway's updater is the simplest way to go. But keep in mind, you will need to install new video drivers (NVkush) and if you are trying to keep your system kernel vanilla, you will loose shutdown, sleep, and reboot functionality.

Good luck. :(

You don't have a backup image of your previous working install?

Also explain exactly what you did to update it. Can only help if I know exactly what you did.

I downloaded Kalyway's Mac_OS_X_Leopard_10.5.3_Combo_Update from the usual source, followed instructions and applied the first of the two updates everything seemed to be going fine when all of the sudden my leopard desktop went black screen and an error massage began to cascade over and over again

something along the lines of "Error getting a refrence to IODevice Tree:/options unknown SIGSEGV code 0" i had to make a complete reinstall of Leopard 10.5.2 which works like a charm

My only real interest in 10.5.3 has to do with the iphone sdk, so i was just wondering if it is possible to install the latest beta on 10.5.2, ive read on several sites that it can be done by editing a few of the sdk's install files that handle the versioning data.

Any input on the above would be most welcomed.

Hey, I did exactly as you mentioned above.. and I lost the restart, shut down and sleep functionality. Although I do not care much about the sleep, I need the shutdown and reboot working. I held myself from updating the kernel when i went from 10.5.2 to 10.5.3. I have vanilla right now.

What would you suggest? I still have the kalyway kernel upgrader pkg, should I go ahead with updating it? And will that be failsafe?
