popophobia
I want to build a desktop to run OS X for cheap. My price range would be around $500 bucks with most of the parts I can get it else where. (HDD, DVD) I think all I need is a very compatible motherboard + CPU + big monitor + RAM. I think most people recommend Asus P35 for motherboard. Can someone point me to a newegg link for a good motherboard for OS X (90-100% compatible)?. There are too many of them with variety of prices on newegg. Things I need: build in sound, build in graphics, build in wifi working, and I would like to have some cheap CPU to go with it (duo core >2.4ghz), this should come out about $180, right? RAM: 2-3Gb of ram should not cost over $50. Am I correct? I've been in laptop market for too long. LCD: I'm looking to get a cheap 20in Dell. Am I missing anything? I'll get a SATA HDD from a friend. DVD writer, I guess I can salvage the NEC floating around, but it's 30 bucks for a new one anyway. Keyboard and mouse should be plenty around the house. Thanks for any help. Synaesthesia
Check out the wiki HCL (hardware compatibility lists), for good selections. -> wiki.osx86project.org Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/112169-help-me-build-my-desktop-for-os-x/#findComment-794172 Share on other sites
