macprodan
Appears the default kernel in the 10.4.4 / 5 Patched DVD ISO is patched to emulate SSE3. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11125-1044-5-no-sse3-for-a64s/ Share on other sites
macgirl
Sure, but you can use the PPFs to modify your kernel to your choices/best options. Mine gets the base, the SSE2 plus the AMD Enabler. gilpin
Hi macgirl, I have a Pentium 4 3ghz which in 10.4.1 listed as having SSE3. How do i modify my kernel to allow SSE3 to be recognized? Thanks a lot, Chris Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/11125-1044-5-no-sse3-for-a64s/#findComment-69861 Share on other sites
Metrogirl
Reading some of the text in the torrents regarding this image, and posts in other threads, it looks as if a kludge in the CPUID component causes the System Profiler to misreport your SSE3 as SSE2, when in fact you're getting all the benefits of SSE3. Some members have done tests which suggest that's true, so if you have installed the image and you have an SSE3 CPU, it's working as SSE3 whatever the screen says. I can't confirm that myself but all the evidence looks good. So you probably don't need to do anything.
