Hi im new to these forums i know no one will prob answer my question as it was answered but im new to this kind of stuff, and i i need to type out an essay today so its mandatory that i get this working.

I installed Kalyway 10.5.2 no problems, except some drivers dont work like Enthernet Adapter and the USB ports. to me thats ok

but what i want is to boot back into windows XP, if i take the DVD with kalyway on it, it just sais something like MAC ADRESE... and a bunch of numbers and these ..... ticking down. and it wont give me an option to boot into windows and on there i have files and a program to type out my essay, i know i can access them from the MAC OS but i have no typing program on there and working internet in order to research what i have to. So how can i get back into windows? i need to asap please help. this the only question i ever ask, you are greatly appriciated if you help me.

You haven't given enough info to figure out what the problem might be. You want to set up a dual-boot system that will let you boot OSX or XP. Did you ever set that up? Did it ever work?

There's just not enough information to go on. It could be a thousand things.

I think you should spend more time studying spelling and grammar. That will improve your essays in the future more than any computer or software. Your post was very hard to understand so your essay is in trouble even if you figure out how to boot back into XP. BTW, Kalyway includes several "typing programs". I never heard them called that before.

i didnt setup anything when it comes to dual boot i just thought make a partition install it on there and ill get a OS menu here i can boot from. but i guess it doesnt work like that. I cant boot into windows i dont get that option do i have to format everything start over? tell me what you want to hearok when i take out the kalyway disc before the PC starts i get this... CLIENT MAC ADDR: 00 11 09 41 58 28 DHCP...../flashing then sais Boot Failure Insert BOOT Diskette in A:press any key when ready...what does this mean i cant boot back into windows?

Looks like you have enabled PXE Boot in BIOS. That is why you are getting CLIENT MAC ADDR: 00 11 09 41 58 28 DHCP...../. Diable this in BIOS

The other issue looks like the OSX Partition is active but th ebootloader is not installed in it. SO you are not getting a boot menu. Search for articles on how to install Boot loader.

For now you can get back to XP by booting with Kalyway DVD, set XP partition as active and reboot without the DVD. This time it should boot into XP

i tried everything i could and i cant seem to boot into windows keeps telling me boot failure and automaticly tries to boot for the MAC OS, now i looked into BIOS settings abut the "PXE Boot in BIOS" and i didnt see anything close to that, now im scared if i delete all partitions format my drive will i still get that, will be able to do a fresh install, i even took the BIOS battery out to restart BIOS and same thing happens it just wont go. i just dont want to loose all my files as i have allot of importand stuff on it, i even put the XP disk in and i tried repairing my HD with the XP on it and still tells me Boot failure and gives me the MAC ADDR thingy.

the thing is i have MAC installed without problems except a few drivers dont work like USB and Enthernet adapter which wont lt me connect to the internet. If i take out the Kalyway DVD in my drive i get this error

Searching for Boot Record ... Not Found

Intel UNDI, PXE-2.0 build(082)

Copyright bla bla bla

CLIENT MAC ADDR, bunch of numbers...

PXE-E51: No DHCP or ProxyDHCP offers reacived

Boot Failure

Insert BOOT Diskette in A:

Press any key when ready_

so i tried putting in a XP cd and nothing happens same messege appears, i place the kalyway disk and and press any key, takes me to the Darwin boot loader. if i let it chill it takes me to MAC OS

what should i do, i mean im so lost.

if a XP cd won't work then I dunno what you will able to boot.

Actually, boot into the OSX install disc and when the installer loads, click on utilities on the menu bar then go to Disk Utility. Tell us all the things you see listed in the left side-bar.

The main Driver and it shows thats its split into 2 parts, one of them is my windows HD with all my flies thank god, and the other partition where MAC OS resides. and it shows the DVD with Kalyway on it. and thats about it. You think i can just Take out my hard drive stick into another computer erase the whole thing and try to install a fresh copy of XP? but i got this gut feeling that the messege im reaciving somehow Put it self into the core of my computer and just wont go away. will this PC ever be able to work as did before or should i just throw it out and buy a MAC

The bootloader is installed on the HDD for your knowledge so there is nothing wrong with the computer in general.

I don't know if you can change a partition to active in Disk Utility but I think that is the problem; Windows partition is not set as active / flagged.

yeah i think so too, i just somehow managed to boot an XP CD i had laying around and deleted the partition with MAC on it , created a new one and installed Windows XP again, now its installing. once i get i plan on trying to get an enthernat adapter Driver for MAC, and use that as my primary OS.

I have a VIA Enthernet Adapter can i get a driver for that for the kalyway instllation. once i have that i think im set.

Boot with Kalyway DVD, start terminal application

enter the following command

fdisk /dev/rdisk0

This will show you the partition table along with a * in the first column for the active partition

For example in my machine it shows the following

bash-3.2# fdisk /dev/rdisk0
Disk: /dev/rdisk0 geometry: 30401/255/63 [488397168 sectors]
Signature: 0xAA55
	 Starting Ending
#: id cyl hd sec - cyl hd sec [ start - size]
------------------------------------------------------------------------
1: 07	0 1 1 - 1023 254 63 [ 63 - 41945652] HPFS/QNX/AUX
*2: AF 1023 254 63 - 1023 254 63 [ 41945715 - 419842710] HFS+
3: AF 1023 254 63 - 1023 254 63 [ 461788425 - 26603640] HFS+
4: 00	0 0 0 -	0 0 0 [ 0 - 0] unused

The HPFS/QNX/AUX is the XP NTFS Partition

Partition 2 HFS+ is the Leopard Partition, and the * in front of the two indicates it is the active partition

So in your case find out the parition number for your XP, then do the following

fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0
flag 1 (replace 1 with whichever you XP parition number is)
quit
reboot

That should mark the XP partition active and reboot. Remove your CD while booting and it should boot into XP without issues.

EDIT: Wow just as I posted, saw that you already wiped clean your Hard disk. Oh well ...

PLEASE change your topic Title to show your problem! maybe then someone with the same experience can help? this will also help others that don't have a clue what is what, to have to go check.

Also by the amount of responses you current topic title is TOTALLY UNTRUE!!
