Total n00b looking for HP l2000 (v2000) help

Hey all, I got a copy of 10.4.4 that is supposed to be pre-patched. I'm looking to install this on my HP l2000, which is the same model as the v2000.

 

It seems like there are a lot of bits and pieces out there on this, but nothing solid. I'm playing around the VMware to see what I can do. When I try to install it does not work and eventually I just get a linux promt. I realize there is an issue with the video driver, I'm not sure how to go about fixing that. I've heard of issues with the keyboard, touch pad, and wireless driver but these seem to vary based on people experiences.

 

I was wondering if someone could help me get on the right path here. I realize many of you have been over this already but in exchange for this information I would create a n00b guide to getting 10.4.4 running on the HP 2000 series. I would update the data as new versions came out and as new drivers were available. Since these are pretty popular models I think a guide would be a great help to many people.

 

Anyway, if anyone is willing to help I would really appreciate it. Hopefully together we could train many people on how to get this up and running.
