I am using Kalyway 10.5.1 and am able to succesfully install but after I click restart I just get the white screen with the apple logo and no matter how long I wait it doesn't do anything. I have tried several tips like completely erasing the disk and reinstalling, booting with/without vanilla, and many others but nothing so far.

Heres my specs:

core2duo e6750 at 2.66ghz

4gb of ocz gold ddr2 ram at 800mhz

a 250gb 7200 rpm seagate baracuda for mac install

150gb 10000 rpm wester digital raptor for vista ultimate 64 bit

nvidia 9600gt with 512mb of ddr3 ram

450 watt antec power supply

running on a crappy ecs mobo (although currently working fine)

If anyone can please help I would greatly apreaciate it. Thank you.

First off, what model is your ECS motherboard?

Secondly, try using the -v flag when you boot up. This will turn on "Verbose Mode" and you'll see what exactly it's doing as it boots. Don't worry with keeping track of everything that is displayed what you'll need to worry about is where it stops and hangs. Write it down and type it here. You can try to take a photo of it, but I prefer reading typed text. This will at least help me or someone else figure out what's causing your machine to hang up.

However, I suspect it's your 9600gt thats causing the hang. 10.5.3 supports it but from what I read not fully. So just boot with verbose and see what it says. If it's your video card try finding a 10.5.3 distro and use that should get you running. You can follow this tutorial when you get 10.5.3 installed.

Good Luck

This may not be exact because its from memory but I did the -v thing and it stoped at this:

"Mac framework succesfully initialized

Using 16384 buffer headers and 4096 clustersters IO buffer headers"

Try booting with -v and cpus=1 and tell me if it gets past that.

This is the same problem with my Lenovo machine..that come with SIS730 Chipsets..well all I can says is this Chipsets is not supported with any LEO..it will stuck there forever..I try every method that I found..but no luck..Install success but..it stuck there..please get your chipsets info for your mobo..it might SIS730..if yes ..all i can say is..you might thinking to buy new mobo that supported for LEO..

Well that just sucks. If you're going to look for a new motherboard I would recommend Abit's IP35-Pro which is right now on sale for $100 (open box). I run Leopard on this board and have NO problem what so ever. Plus it's pretty future proof (for the time being).

Good luck!

I have the same issue with my install of the Leopard. Tried different versions of the install disk, but as the HCL list requires for my hardware, I'm using the Kalyway 10.5.2. No problem installing it. But I got the same message in -v mode afther installation

"Mac framework succesfully initialized

You said to yougotslayed that "Try booting with -v and cpus=1 and tell me if it gets past that". Do you know if he got it working? "He have never started any post here on the forum since, to I'm guessing he got it figuret out..."

Forgot my specs:

MSI P35 Neo-F Intel® P35 Chipset/Intel® ICH9 Chipset

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 GHZ not clocked

Asus GeForce 8400GS 256MB

Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 500GB SATA

A Mac keyboard, a wireless mouse and a version of Kalyway 10.5.2

  • 1 year later...

i have this same issue with

"Mac framework succesfully initialized

Using 16384 buffer headers and 4096 clustersters IO buffer headers"

i have the same motherboard (ECS G31T-M)

for the cpus=1 do i just enter that after pushing f8 for startup options?

IE: -v cpus=1

I am confused! i can't figure out why i am getting stuck on this part.

i'm using boot 132 K.I.S.S. - i've also tried boot 132 project kext.

HELP!
