Effendi
Hey there, I got Vista (unpatched) and OS X 5 working like a charm on one hdd, but when I install SP1 on Vista it no longer works with the Darwin bootloader. Following scenario: - 1 HDD, 50/50 partition scheme with MBR. - Installed OSX 5 - Installed Vista - Patched Vista to SP1 - Reboot from Kalyway DVD - flag osx, write, update, reboot - In OSX flag vista, reboot - Vista Repair does not recognise the Vista install. If I use Vista w/o SP1 it works. One might think now: Well, then patch it later. That, however, won't work because Vista always quits with the message that it could not install the SP1 after rebooting the first time (of 3 or so...). I think this is because of the Darwin Bootloader. Seems like a dead end to me. Did anyone else experience this? I could, alternatively, use hdd1 for eighter OS X 5 oder Vista and hdd2 (currently only a data storage) for the other os. Would that help? Installing XP instead of Vista is no alternative because I need Direct X 10 for different reasons. Thanks for any help. Effendi
I now used hdd1 for OS X 5 and hdd2 for Windows Vista and configured the Windows Vista Bootloader using EasyBCD instead of using the Darwin Bootloader. Works like a charm now. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/110439-windows-vista-sp1-dislikes-darwin-bootloader/#findComment-782797 Share on other sites
macgirl
Is not that Vista does not like Darwin, if Vista writes the MBR Darwin says HFS+ Error, if Mac/Darwin write MBR Vista also presents the winload error.
