I have an HP Pavilion ze5375 laptop which i would really like to get OSX on, or at least try it out. it gets the famous "IOPCCardBridge :: start failed" error message and will not go any further. from what ive found googling it is the pcmcia driver or something similar. i dont need pcmcia on this thing. i was wondering if it is possible to do some editing/customizing on the install dvd to actually tell it what to load at bootup? from what ive read online, most if not all of the hardware in this laptop is compatible its just that one piece at boot that is screwing things up.

i have the 10.4.3 +jas patched iso and ultra iso, so i can open the iso and edit files and remove files and such, i just need some help as to what to edit, where the files are located and what is safe to remove and whats not, and if its even possible or not.

on a different note, it installed perfect on my Dell Poweredge 400SC, got the QE support going as well, the only problem im having is that i only get sound in VLC when playing DVD's but i get no other system sounds nor does iTunes have sound, its wierd how one application has sound and others dont, still havent firgured out that one yet. i also have the patched 10.4.5 dvd as well, it installs fine on that same machine, but after i download the system updates and reboots it doesnt boot anymore, i dont recall the error message, but i did a fresh install again just to see if it was my tweaking or the updates and it is infact the updates that are killing the install. so im sticking with 10.4.3 for now.

thanks for any and all help.

Nick

I would like to think that someone has modified the install DVD with all the patches floating around, im just looking for a point in the right direction. like what files deal with the booting? where are the kext files located that are started at boot etc.

thanks for any help you can give.
