Panja
As the topic says I used to run 10.4.3 on my HP nc6000 laptop. Running pretty well and fast too. Since I tried installing 10.4.4 its running utterly slow. I hoped the 10.4.5 update would make it a little better. But still its running damn slow. This is only when running on batteries. When connected to the powerplug its running fine, when I remove the power it stops working nice and is damn slow! Does anyone have the same problems as me? mka101
Yes i had a similar problem back in the day. I figured out that this is due to the power management. When you unplug the laptop what happens with compaq and HP laptops is it cuts the CPU freqency in Half. In my case what happened was in windows my power management was set to Laptop/Portable, so regardless of having the power in or out it ran at half the requency. When i changed it to "Always ON" the frequency bounched from 800 Mhz to 1.8 Gigz. Also then in OSX in the power management section i set the option to "Custom" rather then normal or whatever the other things are. I hope this helps it does in fact have something to do with your power managment and if you want to test it out you can run CPU-Z or something and see what happens when to your processor when you plug and unplug the power cord. On boot screen type platform=X86PC (it's work for me without problem when running on batteries).
