I just did a software update on my hackintosh which was installed with Kalyway 10.5.2.

When I restarted like it asked me to it went through the whole writing Garage Band Update to disk then it asked me to physically restart my comp with my restart button, so I did. Then at restart, darwin goes through and the Apple logo and loading circle come up then my screen shades to a darker grey and tells me to restart again so I do and the problem still exists.

All I did was do an update and I used the driver installer from this post http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry780357 (did not use nVidiaInject)

I think I've read that I need to put in a command in Darwin when it is loading but I have no idea what the command(s) i need to use are.

I just use software updater in OSX

Well, what probably happened was you installed the stock Apple 10.5.3 update, which is a major update and deletes alot of kexts that are customized for OSX86. You need to be very careful with software update, check these forums and only install updates that are said to be okay, for OS revision updates such as 10.5.2 --> 10.5.3 use something like the Kalyway Combo Updater........... Now as I said, I think I know what hosed your install, but i'm not so sure exactly what you need to do to fix it...... I know the hacked update prevents certain new kexts from getting copied..........

Exact same thing happened to me. Rather than trying to fix the problem i just did a fresh install of OSX. Saved a lot of time and hassle.

Well, for future reference, I used the Kalyway Combo Update 10.5.3 and it worked fine........ it automatically fixes the problem while it is installing itself.

Yea, i didn't realize that until i had run the Apple version of the update. Oops!

Made sense to me, everything else (iMovie, Garageband, etc...) All required the Apple updates, so why not the kernel?

My logic was WAAAYY off. :)

Would have been NO PROBLEM if you were actually running a MAC!

So your must be so close to perfect that you didn't realize it was still a PC! :) ( a bit like my two!)
