-HC-
Hello I think i have the kaloway disc, had it ages but only just got around to buying better hardware to install it. I recenlty brought: Asrock 4CoreDual-SATA2 Skt775 AGP/PCiEx Intel Core2 Duo E4600 Retail Kingston 1GB DDR2 PC2-5300 (667 MHz) x2 (2GB intotal) Maxtor 160 GB SATA II 7200 RPM And i also have inside this PC: GeForce 6800 GTS 512mb DDR3 AGP 700w ATX-A PSU Trust Opticial Expert 5.1 Sound Card PCI PCI Fax Modem Liton DVD Writer IDE Sony DVD Reader IDE When i come to install 10.5 it loads to the 'Press any key to install' screen then just restarted back to post after i press a key, if i press F8 then -v it seems to start loading things (about 6 things) then always as one message comes up it restarts, its to fast to read but the message starts with 'starting darwin' i think. I have tryed many of combinations including taking out the sata2 hdd and putting a 320gb ide one in and its the same, i have tired the CD on my laptop which is a intel celron 1.5 and it gets further but fails due to incompatable hardware (hense the buying of new hardware), i have tired both DVD drives to. Is anything i brought not compatable?? I wanted 4gb of 800mhz ram but i also wanted to keep my graphics card which is a AGP and the only board they had with AGP on was the one i brought which is 2gb max. Im not to bothered if i have to buy a new board and a PCIe graphics card if i can have 4gb and os 10.5 running but would love to keep my current graphics card as its very good and cost me a bomb last year. I am currently obtaining a TOH intel only verion of mac os 10.5 to see if its the image im using? If anyone has any advice or input i would aprecaite it! -HC-
so SATA 2 is no good as standard then?? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/110075-restarts-on-install/#findComment-780860 Share on other sites
ero
sorry, I edited my post. it said: i believe for leopard to install w/o a workaround you need a SATA dvd drive. Theres probably a workaround, but I don't know it. now that u got into setup, its probably something else. SATA 2 is fine. I'm gonna guess the incompatibility is the VIA chipset and probably VIA sata controller on your mobo. also, AGP might be a problem for you later on (albeit i believe its fixable if u look around enough) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/110075-restarts-on-install/#findComment-780862 Share on other sites
-HC-
Bios update or is there another way?? would an IDE HDD work as i have 320gb doing nothing? ahh i see so i should be using a SATA DVD drive to install with as im already at the select destination to install to screen im guessing that wouldn't be the problem, its not seeing the partition i created so there is nothing in the list to select a place for it to installAlso in the System Profiler it says there is no SATA devices installed but there is a 160gb SATA2 HDD installed, vista is installed on one partition and i have created a 2ed for os 10.5 following these instructions http://osx86.thefreesuite.com/leo_intel.php i would profer to have installed os 10.5 then used there boot vista feacture!
