I finally managed to use vmware to install 10.4.3 with jas 4.2b

As a test.

I have read that you can install though wmware directly to hard drive, then modify the boot record to boot native. How exactly can ths be done in vmware, as i want to use a 100GB hd.

Just use the physical HDD as the one in the VMWare Virtual PC. Install onto it. Then, in the BIOS (on most systems, you need to press DEL when the system is booting to get into it), change the boot order of the HDD's to the OS X 10.4.3 Drive you installed onto. Then save changes and exit. The PC should reboot. It will then, hopefully, use the drive you installed 10.4.3 onto as the startup drive.

Then it should work. If you get stuck, lemme know!

P.S. An easier way to boot the drive, would be to just unplug the other HDD's you currently have connected to the motherboard, and test whether it works natively first. That way, you don't have to fiddle with settings :(
