Wich can boot with the JMicron controllers.

Read more here

I tried hes ISO and darwin was working flawless.

Does anyone know how you can use chameleon with a existing release or any releases

that uses the chameleon boot loader?

Best regards.

Theoretically you could overwrite the old loader with a new one within the iso image - with dd for example. The problem is that Chameleon's cdboot is about 2-3k longer than the current cdboot being used with the image.

Anyway i'm going to try it with kalyway 10.5.2.

Update:

The first thing is to locate the starting offset of the cdboot within the iso. I'm using Total Commander's hex search function and search for the first 16 bytes of the booter:

"FA EA 40 7C 00 00 90 90 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00"

Update 2:

Success! :o Going to post this small ppf patch on Chameleon's site soon.

great work zef, keep up the good job :)

Thx :( I would be more happy with more positive results.

Btw it is important to make a clear distinction between not getting to the Darwin boot prompt (this fix aims this issue only) and between the JMicronATA.kext related kernel crashes which will happen most likely if the JMicron port isn't configured to IDE mode. That's another story.

way to go man!

i'll test it for amd soon, but i don't have a phenom tho, any benefits? :D

I don't have either too, so i can't tell anything about it :(

I think this "dd over the old cdboot with chameleon's cdboot" method could be used with other distros.

How about a similar ppf patch for Leo4All v3?
