My partiontioning atempt always fails when it goes to create a partition map and then freezes the computer. I have read that this is due to the SATA driver and that I should use a 3rd party utility to partition and format an HFS+ partition. However Gparted wouldn't work on my computer (Compaq F700). Are there some other utilities that support HFS+ that I could use

Anyone? I know there has to be a utility out there somewere that can create hfs+ partitions. The closest so far was PartedMagic but it couldn't create hfs+ partitions, only modify them... so if someone could please tell me of an application that can do this I would be eternally greatfull.

- Grab "Hiren's BootCD 9.5" from http://maxt.dk/search/9.5/

- Burn that image on a CD as an ISO, not data CD.

- Boot with the CD and use Acronis or Paragon partitioning apps. Edit: Try others if these fail in first hand. There are tons of tools (partitioning apps and other HW related) on this CD.

- Partition the HDD. Don't forget to format some 20GB+ partition for OSX as FAT32.

- Now boot with the OSX86 installation DVD. Open Disk Utility. Erase that FAT32 partition as Mac OS Journaled.

- Install Leopard on that partition.

- Next time... Search! Similar info is everywhere on this forum... For years!

Edit: Modified the apps section.

Edit-2: Just a quick proof you must google before asking:

- I googled

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&cli...amp;btnG=Search

- The result I picked for you:

It's also a proof that your computer doesn't like NIX partitioning tools BTW.
