Hi,

I have a HP ze2020 with Tiger 10.4.11, and everything is perfect. I see a Leopard ISO and I want to upgrade upgrade my OS.

My Laptop isan't good, he has only 512mb ram and 1,3 celeron and no QE/CI(under Tiger. No driver for Intel 855GM, on Leopard, I think the QE/CI wont work either )

Will Leopard run slower than Tiger?

I search the forum but I do not find nothing related to this metter.

Tks and sry for the bad english.

Yeah, it will be a bit slower, maybe not as compatible either. With 512mb of RAM and a slow PC, like a G4, it's a little slower. However it's not a train smash, not like the difference between XP and Vista at all! Totally usable on a G4 1.33 Powerbook with 512mb here.

Core Animation will run in software, which makes things a bit jumpy. More like 10-20% slower...On good hardware, Leopard is actually much faster.

More RAM will definitely help, especially if you want to run heavy programs like Photoshop (which I like much better on OS X). It wont be the same as upgrading the whole computer, but you should definitely notice a difference.

Be careful about compatibility though... I suggest installing to a different hard drive than your 10.4.11 to make sure it works.

Also, out of curiosity how are you getting 1.2Gb RAM? That is a very interesting number

Gotchya.

Personally I haven't installed OSx86 onto an external drive, but in theory it should work. Some things to make sure of is that your bios has the option to boot from a USB device, and you might run into trouble with the installation not being able to access your external drive (depending on needed drivers, etc.).

Before you even start installation make sure you can boot to USB, otherwise its a waste of time
