ATI X1600 (0x71c2) Fix - 10.5.2

Hi,

 

For those that experience problems (mouse artifacts, random crash, etc.) with Radeon ATI X1600 Pro,

i've packaged a solution.

 

Here is my Configuration. I haven't tested it onto other configurations! Please, Post your comments!

 

Mobo: P5LD2

CPU: P805 DCore 2.8Ghz

RAM: 2Gb / 533Mhz

Video: ATI Radeon X1600Pro (0x71c2)

OS: 10.5.2 (Kalyway clean install)

I had it all running perfectly using an installer of some description and a bit of boris' method before i decided to upgrade to vanilla. I've been having a nightmare til i found this. Res switching straight away as soon as restarted. need to attack the kexts with the boris method now and i'm fully expecting it to work. Thanks for this installer and i hope it becomes sticky so i can find it again if i need it... oh and so everyone else can sort theirs. lol

i used your kext and it work flawlessly but when i updated to 10.5.5 i lost all support and when i tried to install my back kexts and installer again i could not log in or get a black screen

 

have you run into this if so could you tell me how i can go about fixing this i have search all around the forum but all i could find is that these are old kexts and that why updates do not work.

I have a ATI Mobility Radeon x1600, do you know if there´s a kext for it too?

you can use all the ATI* kext from 10.5.x; just replace ATINDRV.kext with the one in this topic http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=127221

I have been having trouble with my x1600 PRO(Powercolor 0x71c2 1002). I am running the Kalyway 10.5.2 with the MacLovin's patch and modified info.plist and I still cannot get the QE or the CI support. I installed this package and rebooted. Upon reboot I had tearing and the computer stopped responding. I had to boot into safe mode just to get OSX to work again.

 

Any ideas on why I might be seeing this behavior?
