Hi everyone, I am totally new to running mac on a pc and I would like to do it.

A friend of mine hase the original Leopard dvd that his father bought and he said I could borrow it. I looked in a lot of topics on this site but they haven't brought me much further.

I found these topics as guides to install leopard:

My question is, are these good guides for my system?

Motherboard: Intel D945PVS

CPU: Intel Pentium D830

Graphical card: Ati Radeon X800XL Sapphire

I looked up al these parts with the wiki, and i think they are compatible. but which guide should I use?

And also, can I install Mac on the same HDD as windows is now on? Or do I have to buy another one?

I hope you can help me,

Jan

Yeah, those are good guides if you wanna patch your own Leopard DVD. It's easier though to download a prepatched DVD like iAtkos and just install from that, however there's no difference in the end.

You can dual-boot Windows and Mac OS on one hard drive, just partition it up. A great tool for windows is Acronis Disk Director. Put Windows on the first partition, and have the Mac Partition set to Primary and Active.

Here is my favourite install guide/dual booting guide.

I'm not sure if your X800 will work with full acceleration in Leopard, but the rest of your hardware should. You can always take it out and run on GMA950 though.

I have to create a partition for Mac os x, but can I create; 1 NTFS partition for windows, 1 Fat32 for Mac Os x install and 1 Fat32 to exchange files between mac osx and windows xp?

I would like to do this to have all my music files in mac to. But will it work?

The guide is written for 10.4.4 -10.4.9 but can i download leopard 10.5.2 dvd that is patched and still use the same guide?
Yeah, same procedure.

Yeah. Put the music on the Fat32 swap partition so it is accessible to both.

I am now installing on my desktop, but what should I select at the customize screen?

Or can I just install without selecting anything and patch later on?

Edit: I decided not to select anything because i didn't know what I should select. the installation stops about halfway, my computer restarts and boots into Leopard! Nice :D

But the sound doesnt work, what should i do with that? and I can't change my resolution, and internet doesn't work...

Anyone?
