I installed Wesleys patched 10.4.3 on my computer about a week ago, and had no sound. I searched, and searched, but could not find a solution. I tried changing .kexts, failed. So I just stuck with it.

Today I've been doing everything normal, the only thing I did different today was I installed iLife 06, changed something in my bios (switched boot menu from default to advanced), and tried to change something in the boot.plist (it didnt work).

Well, I tried burning a DVD and the DVD got currupted, and stuck in my DVD drive, so I rebooted so I could take it out. When everything loaded, I looked to my top right and saw the wonderful volume changer :):D:D

I said, "No freaking way dude" and plugged in my speakers.. adjusted the volume.. and heard a nice little "bloop"

My soundcard is integrated (Intel 915G Chipset). 6 channel HDA. Can anyone help me figure out why it would suddenly work?

Oh yeah, and I turned off everything in Dashboard, Weatherbug was hogging my memory. I really hope this is permanent. :)

it probably removed the kext cache and reloaded the needed kext's on reboot.

also, if you go to Utilities > MIDI setup thingy, you can change the input/output settings of your card, aswell as the number of channels it uses. that probably happened somewhere in the setup.

Well, I changed out the .kexts when I first got it installed, and I've rebooted quite a few times since then. I never could find the kext cache.

I'm betting iLife edited the MIDI setup thing.. although actually now that I think about it I've looked in that before, it wouldn't let me select anything.

Hmmm..

Can someone please help me find out how to get my audio to work again.

It was working fine a little bit ago, but the power wnet off and its not working at all anymore. Before all I had to do was do what I did in the above post.

There has to be someone with 915g chipset that can help me. I almost broke my iPod because I have gotten so angry.
