itschadwhitaker
New to mac. I want to change the "home" folder (mine named "Chad") to be stored on my 750GB internal HDD. Is and how is this possible? Thanks Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/108588-change-folder-location/ Share on other sites
sg
first copy your user folder to whever you want, then go to system prefs -> accounts then unlock it (bottom lock icon). then righ-click or control-click your user name at the top left and go to 'advanced'. you'll then be able to set your home path. parachute
No, it's wrong to do it through the GUI. This post worked 100% for me: http://episteme.arstechnica.com/eve/forums...31#225004479831 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/108588-change-folder-location/#findComment-770420 Share on other sites
sheeplover
Yes, parachute above ist right! If you "just copy" your homefolder and change the path via the GUI you might be running into serious trouble. Use the guide provided in the post above instead and go save.
