RWE
Hi; I've been using IK Multimedia's "Amplitube 2" to play & record guitars without any problems. A few days ago, I downloaded the new "Amplitube Metal" demo, but it causes kernel panic everytime. I tried different kernels, different releases of HackOS (iATKOS 1.0i r2, Kalyway 10.5.2) with&without 10.5.3 update but there is no way out. My sound card is M-Audio Fasttrack USB and my hardware is on the sig. Any ideas? Guest ѕиоѡ
I have absolutely no idea but I'm absolutely sure it isnt kernel related! Odd that everything worked before installing Metal. My only suggestion would be to use the other plugs instead. I'm using X-Gear (+ all the other plugs) without issues. ps. You tried different updates and releases just to fix this? you must need the Metal plug badly then. alixir
Had the same thing with that demo, i guess they haven't got the code right yet, i would suggest that since amplitube 2 is rock solid and the demo isn't that would be your answer. They all do their processing internally and then route audio to whatever host app you have. I'd recommend Izotope Trash, way more usable, less processing, way better distortion! RWE
Thanks for quick replies guys. Finally I noticed that it works perfectly on GarageBand & Logic as AU The problem is on standalone side only. @ѕиоѡ: Yepp, all that stuff for "metal" thing I really liked it. @alixir: Thanks for your recommendation, dude. I downloaded Izotope and will give a look at it. noisenet
I believe this problem is related to the M-Audio driver. The reason I say this is because: 1) I always get the Kernel Panic right after I've heard the "click click" of it connecting to the M-Audio device 2) Upon restart, when looking at the problem report, the M-Audio USB driver is listed in there 3) I uninstalled, cleared out all the preference files and anything else related to Amplitube Metal on my hard drive, then reinstalled it. I left it set to use my internal soundcard, it worked just fine. But then changing the setting to the M-Audio unit, it immediately kernel panicked again. Conversely, Amplitube 2 still works fine, as does the Amplitube Ampeg Bass amp pack. Oddly, though, Amplitube Metal worked just fine last night, I played with it for hours. I can't think what might have changed since then, but it's clearly something that doesn't agree. No amount of uninstalling/reinstalling seems to work. The only thing I've installed has been Azureus. I don't THINK that could be the cause, but I'm gonna uninstall both, then reinstall A-Metal and see what happens. Damn, It's annoying, cause Metal really does sound great! Haven't tried to see if it works inside Logic Pro yet.....
