rschultz101 Posted June 1, 2008 Share Posted June 1, 2008 hotplug with sata drives is not working on desktop,... with laptop, and with PCexpress controller, it works, got a bunch of disks, and want to be able to us mobile drives, to take disks with me and laptop,... without rebooting everytime,.... also running out of sata ports,... do like firewire 800 but its expensive and slower than native sata,.. so thinking and esata 5 disk raid enclosure with mobile racks, be the ticket, come with an pci-express sil controller, the enclosure is multilane, think it should work with the laptop,.... the box does raid 1 0 5 10,... but think softraid be more reliable, also need it for backup solution,...maybe speed gain, essentially, like to have sata hotplug working , anybody ? prefferably a fix for existing mobo g33 ds2r,... and pci-e controller card that could do that, think , for the addon cards you can't boot into osx, duo drivers,... another gottcha,... thanks for tips/help Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/108025-sata-hotplug-laptop-works-desktop-sucks/ Share on other sites More sharing options...
