jbjonas
I believe the best we can do with the drivers we have now is Mirrored displays... I take it you are looking for a spanned desktop? bluedragon1971
I believe that the Intel GMA900 series video will do dual (spanned) displays with an ADD2 card, as I think I remember someone saying that the Developer Kit machines supported this. mark7714
It "works" if you have a laptop. But in a bad way (see: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?sh...60entry42460). It forces you to have an external monitor attached, and if you don't, it won't boot (the answer is to make a dongle and set the displays as mirrored). So it seems to me that it may be possible to mimic this with other systems? marliwahoo
Anything with intel 9xx on-board graphics can add a second display. If you have a 915g or 945g based motherboard ... you can use a $22 add2 card for a digital second display. It works great. It does not need to be mirrored. It has fully supported Core Image and Quartz Extreme. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/10766-two-monitors/#findComment-67620 Share on other sites

Tek_No
Even my father's "real" iMac G5 with 20" tft doesn't support screen spanning as Apple deactivated this feature in the ROM of the X600 XT videocard... Shame on Apple!!!!!!!! You paid for the damn card so why should they deactivate this feature???? Answer: to be able to sell so-called PRO machines (apparently the iMac G5 is not a PRO machine for them)... Bad attitude in my opinion: when you buy a Porsche the mechanic in the garage is not diabling the 4th and 5th gear because you're not driving the most expensive version of that Porsche: you paid the engine so you should be able to use all 5 gears!!! Anyway: the guys at MacWorld have the following VERY NICE pages on this: http://www.macworld.com/weblogs/editors/20...nning/index.php Tried it yesterday on my father's G5 and bingo: extended desktop on two monitors Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/10766-two-monitors/#findComment-67788 Share on other sites
mushupork5
so anyone want to try out that ScreenSpanning Doctor program to try and get our boxes to use dual monitors? http://www.rutemoeller.com/mp/ibook/ibook_e.html I have an ATI Radeon 9200 128MB, think it will work? Tek_No
I don't think this will work on our Intel based pc systems The idea of the Screen Spanning Doctor is to reactivate a feature on certain ATI videocards that has been disabled by Apple... Goofy79
I thought that the ATi EAX1600 is build in one of the new Mac, why don't support this Card two Monitors ? Is the Problem at the Card or is the Problem at the OSx86 ? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/10766-two-monitors/#findComment-69378 Share on other sites
