went_postal Posted March 22, 2006 Share Posted March 22, 2006 I am having the same problem... IBM Craptop T-40. Tried enabling the "use Rosetta" thing in Get Info but that did not help. Anyone? I do have Adium X runing though... So at least I have chat... Just no iChat. stelriah Posted March 23, 2006 Share Posted March 23, 2006 it has something to do with the graphics. ichat is trying to load it for video chat. if system prefrences crashes when you try to change the screen saver then its def. that. I see all sorts of talk and people saying they got it fixed... but being a noob I have no idea how to fix it myself. mactogo Posted March 28, 2006 Share Posted March 28, 2006 Had my problem fixed and yes, it was a graphics card issue. The ichat program among others uses OpenGL so you need to get that working. It's possible with a Radeon Mobility 7500. There's a post on the Drivers section for that. sparkac Posted March 28, 2006 Share Posted March 28, 2006 I had that issue and I just unloaded the graphics card kext and ichat ran fine. I have a mobility 9200 and mac loads up the ATIRadeon8500.kext for it which actually makes my graphics worse. Unloading it gets a lot of apps working and I get a nice speed boost in expose.
