sadale
New to the whole hackintosh thing.. I just installed Kalyway 10.5.2 on my Dimension 9150, and everything worked except the audio. Linux-side, lspci lists the audio as: 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 01) Can anyone give me a tip on getting that to work? Thanks! steake
Thankfully for you i have the same dell. And after reading around i was told its impossible to make this sound card work. NOT TRUE ! After much trial i have it working perfectly ! Okay so you're going to need AppleHDAPatcher V1.20, you may need to look around the internet a bit for this i found it on a japenese website, it has to be v1.20. Once thats downloaded drag it to the desktop. You'll need it there in a mo. Next theres a linux dump we need put into the HDApatcher app. i found this on Prasys' forum post about the dell. Its a custom one designed to work http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...ost&id=9030 Now when that text file has downloaded. Drag it onto the icon of AppleHDApatcher, it should start the app. It will ask you for authentication and what not, then just let it do its stuff, when its done reboot with the speakers in the green jack at the back, and you should have working sound. and mic / line in too. A few bugs here are that, the front jacks don't work, and mute odly doesnt work, however i deem them livable with. If you need any more help with the dell, Ive got it working pretty much perfect apart from sleep. One more thing to check is that, theres no 3rd party sound cards in.. And its on in the BIOS ! Note : You're going to need to right click and click save file on the link. My bad. sadale
heh.. thanks for the input. I actually decided I didn't want to waste any time on it and spent $40 on a Griffin iMic, which worked perfectly out of the box. Everything else (including sleep) works perfectly ont he system with the ToH sleep kernel, so I'm pretty happy. steake
Is there any way to implement ToH (sleep) Kernel on Kalyway etc? that would be awesome if you could supply a guide... sadale
All you have to do is copy the sleep kernel from the DVD (I think it's called sleepkernel) to / and, the next time you boot, at the Darwin prompt type sleepkernel (or whatever it's exact name is). THat'll boot that kernel. Test out the system, including sleep, etc. If it all works, rename /mach_kernel to /mach_kernel.old or something like that, and rename /sleepkernel to /mach_kernel and then it will boot that kernel from now on.
