Toaster777
Hi guys, Got sound working on my system now! YAY! So that leaves me with 3 major issues. 1) The only way I can boot is with the CPUS=1 option at Darwin. Is there any way around this? I'd love to get all 4 cores working. 2) My wifi doesn't work. Are there any sort of generic USB drivers that have been updated? I tried the ones on the Leo4All v3 disk with no luck. 3) My video card doesn't seem to work in 3D. I used the 4.1 NVInstaller and it detects it properly, but when I try to run HALO for Mac it gets all goofy in 3D. Mostly black, nothing really working well. Is this possibly just an issue because the game is an old PowerPC version running within Rosetta? Other than that, things are looking up. I have to try out my wired connection, but was hoping to not have to do that. As always, any help is appreciated! My system specs again: System - HP Pavilion Elite m9150f Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4 GHz Intel G33 Express Asus IPIBL-LB (HP/Compaq motherboard name: Benicia-GL8E) 3GB PC-5300 667MHz 16x Dual Layer DVD+/- RW with LightScribe 2.4x HD DVD-ROM drive Wireless LAN 802.11 b/g - driver shows as Ralink 3.1.4.0 in Vista 256MB DDR3 nVidia GeForce 8600GT Hauppage TV tuner card with FM tuner Realtek ALC 888S integrated High Definition Audio Realtek RTL8168C/8111C PCI-e gigabit ethernet adapter USB infrared remote Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/107217-any-fix-for-cpus1-issue/ Share on other sites

limini
Hi Toaster! I don't know if you're still following this up (it's been a while since you've posted). We seem to be in the same boat: I have exactly the same system. If you look at this thread, it appears there's an issue with the BIOS that interferes with both the running of leopard and the use of 4 cores on some motherboards. I already submitted ours for re-flashing here (I got the latest bios from HP, 5.25, installed it and used the Award flasher in DOS to get an image of it). Hopefully one of the people on that thread will help... Have you found any solutions that worked since you last posted? Nick Daniels
I have a Core 2 Quad (9300) on a G33 based mobo as well. Although I have not made it to using Mac OS X, the DVD won't even boot without cpus=1. I ahve however discovered that specifying cpus=4 cpu=1 will also allow me to boot. CPUS appears to be an arg for the number of cores, and CPU is the number of physical CPU's. Hope that helps some one. --Nick Hi guys, Got sound working on my system now! YAY!
