Hello All, I thought I would share my success story and fixes with you. First, I am running a HP a1240n

Pavillion desktop 3Ghz Pentium 4, 1 gig ram, SSE2 & SSE3, ICH6, i915G Chipset, ALC880 audio, three partitions(XP-OSX-Empty formated Mac extended Jour.)

I was using Jas 10.4.8 and decided to move to XxX 10.4.11 Rev 2.

I installed using the 8.10.1 kernel SSE3 w/EFI and encountered these problem: No USB at ALL

and No Audio at ALL.

The audio was fixes by a program that I used on the Jas 10.4.8. I found it here:

I just ran it and re-started Audio....Fixed

The USB was a bit more time intensive...on boot I kept seeing AppleUSBUHCI havind probs.

I did a search of the OSX86 forum and found an obscure post in French. I don't speak or read

the language, I know...ignorant American. But in the text of the last reply is a link to Apple's

Development Center:

I found the version I needed (10.4.11) downloaded it and ran the version w/o logging

restarted and my USB drives now appear..even if I plug them in after start up......

I did, however disable "Legacy" on my Bios. I may not need to...I will try it later.

Also to download from the Apple Dev. Ctr. you need to set up an account...just an e-mail and passwd.

Then I went in and changed my boot.plist

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">

<plist version="1.0">

<dict>

<key>Kernel</key>

<string>mach_kernel</string>

<key>Timeout</key>

<string>1</string>

<key>Kernel Flags</key>

<string></string>

<string>rd=disk0s2</string>

<key>Boot Graphics</key>

<string>Yes</string>

<key>Quiet Boot</key>

<string>Yes></string>

</dict>

</plist>

This made my OSX the default partition, No verbose, 1 second to hit the F8 for a list of boot partition.

You will need to open the terminal app and type in:

diskutil list

to find out which drive is which. My OSX is disk0s2.

Hope this helps,

Glynn

P.S. after running the apple installer for the USB an new folder appeared on the OSX. It is called Developer and inside this folder is a USB diagnostic app that shows all the info you may want or need.
