kluikens
Well, in my last post you said you didn't have it working either, but I guess there's no way to delete the post now. So how do I run the idlehalt=0 parameter? Careless
Well, in my last post you said you didn't have it working either, but I guess there's no way to delete the post now. So how do I run the idlehalt=0 parameter? no no .. i said in the last thread that the rebooting issue is a problem that hasnt been solved, and you gotta deal with it to run idlehalt=0, right when it says "loading darwin" or right after you select to boot into OSX, press F8. it will show a menu that says: boot: in there, you type: idlehalt=0 platform=ACPI that will boot with those commands that i use, and i get a stutter free system. if you want to make it so that it does automatically (once you do it the first way and make sure its ok, ofcourse) then you can post here again and ill tell you how to modify your com.apple.Boot.plist file Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/10686-1045-amd-athlon-64-x2-3800-working/#findComment-66956 Share on other sites
kluikens
It worked perfectly for me, I'd love to modify the com.apple.Boot.plist file. By the way, I'm trying to install/patch Maxxuss' AMD Enable v1.0a that he released today but I'm pretty I'm not doing it. I followed his directions that say "extract and enter the folder, then execute "sudo ./patcher cpuid_patches.txt"." but when I do this in the terminal window it says it doesn't know what a sudo command is. When I double click on the patcher, it brings up a terminal window but I read through what happens and it doesn't look like it modified anything. How do I do the whole process? By the way, I appreciate this a lot! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/10686-1045-amd-athlon-64-x2-3800-working/#findComment-66960 Share on other sites

FallenWings
kluikens, What motherboard are you running on? OS X is mistakenly reading your CPU @ 3.7 ghz, right? Careless, I looked your mobo up on newegg and it's a bit out of my pricerange. Any other AMD mobos that you know of that overclock well? I'm planning on building an AMD system that'll run at least 10.4.4 over the summer, and I need to hear from people who've gotten it to work. Careless
Careless,I looked your mobo up on newegg and it's a bit out of my pricerange. Any other AMD mobos that you know of that overclock well? usually the DFI LanParty boards are the best overclockers, seeing as they are enthusiast modding boards and whatnot. try that one out. theres tons of models. hit up xtremesystems.org and make a post in the forums asking about what board for your pricerange you should get. kluikens
well, since the 10.4.4 native dvd install wouldn't boot for me, i downloaded the native 10.4.3 dvd and installed that. it booted with no problems, except for the fact that my ps2 keyboard didn't work. i then popped in the patched 10.4.4 native dvd, from before, and upgraded to 10.4.4, which didn't work. since the patched dvd also comes with the 10.4.5 update, i figured i'd give it one more go. i did, and it worked. there's a lot of stuttering and the idlehalt=0 platform=ACPI parameter works pretty well for me. i played around with it but since i have a griffin pci wireless card, i don't have internet and therefore sticking to xp until something new comes along. by the way, if you end with this predicament too, i installed the RaLink chipset driver for mac but it still didn't do anything. that's basically it. by the way, the asus board isn't reading the processor speed wrong, it's got to be a glitch in the mac os. i freaked when i saw this, figuring my cpu was about to start boiling but i rebooted, checked the bios and it's still clocked at 2ghz. i have details about the patched dvd on my last topic which links to this one: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=10097 oh, i personally think asus and dfi are the best overclockers. i think i've heard good things about a few gigabyte boards too. capran
I have managed to Run Mac Os X 10.4.4 (10.4.5 updated) on this config :Radeon X800 Pro AGP 256Mb - Pioneer DVR110 recognized only as DVD drive and transfer is very slow ! - Graphics not perfect i.e. 1024*768 only and 128 Mb instead of 256 Have you had any luck getting higher res? Also can you confirm OpenGL and QE + CI as working? I just put a bid on a X800 Pro AGP on eBay, so I sure hope it'll work. Did you try the com.apple.Boot.plist method? I'm dying to know about widescreen 1680x1050 res specifically.
