a little trouble installing Leopard

I'm fairly new to the mac world, so take it easy on me.. :)

I made the dumb mistake of formatting my macbook in hopes that I would then be able to use my parent's Leopard installation discs (10.5.2) on my newly formatted macbook (previously 10.5). I was getting the "This software cannot be installed on this computer" error before the format, and I am also getting it afterwards. I didn't know that you needed to have the same Leopard build version discs to reinstall... now that I have formatted I don't know how to find out which build I need.. can anybody give me any pointers?

I'd like to get my computer up and running soon, preferably without driving to the nearest Apple store (which is not very near at all).

thanks,

jrock

EDIT: nevermind all of this, it's fixed. :]

and may i ask were might the leopard disc that came with your computer be? and there is a .plist withing the instaler that disables the leopard installer (if the discs are specific to say a MBP or iMac, just not your computer) but you can edit this, although youd have to rip the DVD to your computer, edit the list, and then reburn it....
