Apogee Duet Problem

Hi all, this is my first post so I would like to say a big 'thank you' to all the help and advice that's been provided on these forums to enable me to get my hack up and running. Much appreciated everyone.

Anyhow, I've just bought an Apogee Duet to use with Logic 8 and my problems are this. The system recognises the duet when plugged in and I can play itunes through it no probs, but when I install the drivers, they install ok, the system then says that it needs to restart, updates boot cache and when it restarts I get the grey/restart screen of death!

I'm presume that this must be due to a clash with the firewire kexts already installed and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this and if so, is there a work around? I've got the latest drivers from the Apogee site, so I don't think that's the problem. I've dragged the install package into pacifist and it separates the various kexts and software so i'm wondering if there is a way to install these separately. This is where i really need some advice as without these i can't control the unit so it basically becomes a very nice paper weight!!

Any suggestions anyone ( apart from selling it to you at a vastly reduced price!)

my hack comprises the following

gigabyte k8ns ultra

amd athlon 64 3500

1gb ram

pny quadro agp graphics (qe/ci not working but planning to update)

kalyway 10.5.2

everything works really really well and is very stable and quick. the graphics isn't really a prob at mo as it's only for use as a daw although a proper version of logic won't install due to VRAm error but I think that will be solved with new graphics card (nvidia 7300gt perhaps?)

thanks in advance for your help :-)
