colorfuel Posted May 16, 2008 Share Posted May 16, 2008 Hello, So this is the setup I was thinking I'd buy in the next few days: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Box 6144Kb, LGA775, 64bit ABIT IP35, Sockel 775 Intel P35, ATX 4096MB-Kit Mushkin SP2-6400, CL5 Lian Li Midi Tower PC-7 SE-B III, ATX ATX-Netzteil Corsair VX450W 450 Watt Sparkle 8800GTS 512MB, PCI-Express Samsung HD642JJ 640GB SATA II 16MB LG GH20N bare My Question is: 1. Is there anyone who has the same mobo? It isnt listed in the HCL so I'd prefer to aske here before buying. 2. Should everything work fine with this setup? (I'm prepared to install patches if needed, but then I hope everyzhing will work out) The price is good for me (700€), I didnt want to spend more then just that, otherwise I would have gone with the IP35 pro or the gigabyte P35-DS4. But those seem to exepensive. Thanks for your help and sugestions.. Redliner Posted May 16, 2008 Share Posted May 16, 2008 that's a lot of money for a mobo, unless you are going to be using more than 4 SATA connections or more than 4 gigs of RAM you're better off getting an Intel mobo as in Made by them. I have the Intel DG31PR...it's rock solid, very good on all fronts...sleep doesn't work on mine, but I never really tried to get my graphics card to support it with EFI. Everything works...i guarantee it. also you can Dual boot flawlessly using the mobos as long as you keep the os's on separate drives. oh and the ONLY patch it needs is the audio 883 one...I have done every update 100% full vanilla. also, unless you are gaming I really recommend you get a Quad i have the Q6600 and it crushes everything to pieces. even gaming is good...i can run 39 bots in CS:S with everything on full @ 1600 x 100 (or whatever) anyway I bench at around 220 with xbench which is comparable to a mac pro configured to $2900 without a monitor. with monitor I spent $910 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/105234-good-config-for-a-new-hackintosh-abit-ip35-mobo/#findComment-749072 Share on other sites More sharing options...

So I didnt know if I could trust the reviews in the HCL for 10.5.2. Why didnt I take a look at the HCL for 10.5.1? I dont know. Thanks for pointing me towards it. The not waking from sleep thing could be a problem. I use sleep alot on my macbook. Then again, a machine like this shouldnt take long to boot anyway. @ Redliner: I hope you didnt think the 700€ were for the mobo alone. It's the money I'm gonna spend for the whole system. (Which wasnt very clear from my post, sry) And then, I chose the Abit IP35 because it has got some overclocking capabilities and Firewire ports. Apparently, the E8400 can be OCed to 4Ghz on Air-Cooling only. I'll have to try that of course. As for the Ram. It's a new system, I'm getting 4 Gig now, so I'd want it to be expandable in the future. Who knows, maybe in 2 years, 8Gig will come in Handy if you wont go Nehalem right away. I thought about getting the Q6600 but the E8400 is just faster in most of the Games. Maybe not in Source-like Games like CS:S. Anyhow, I think I'll just stick with it. But thanks for the suggestion.
