cyntax
HI all, before I go and re-install OSX on my X86 box, has anyone with a PCI M-Audio card tried the latest drivers? http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=support&tab=driver It now supports leopard.. which I find kinda strange, if someone can try it that will be cool, otherwise, I'll dig out my old Delta 1010LT card and give it a go.. - Cyn. Oxtie
I saw the support page earlier before considering to buy the m-Audio based card and was disappointed with their statement that "Intel based Mac Pros care not supported" they mentioned something about PCI/PCI-X and PCI Express are different in hardware specs. I'm currently holding my money in my pocket due to this otherwise I would have bought one already I do have one doubt, our systems as "Hack.in.tosh", we have PCIs and PCI Express but... its doubt whether it will work or not (unless of course someone tries it)
Hagar
Once again, those drivers are PPC, and will not work on any intel-based machine. download them yourself & take a look.

Yes this is what I figured in the first view but on the second, I noticed that they gave reason for it as hardware difference between "PCI/PCI-X with PCI Express". They also added to it that it is only PCI compatible. Anyways because they say the word "Intel" I'll have to say you're right! EDIT: http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=suppor...a5d5f4ef3da6903 This page tells that they are making a new Intel and PCI-Express compatible audio card... I guess its worth waiting then spending money on something...
iMacCrazy
I have M-audio revolution 7.1 audio card. Its a PCI card. Can i hope to get drivers for my Hacintosh ( 10.5.2). I am disappointed to find that there is no Leopard driver on m-audio website for 7.1 card ( not even beta) but the one exists for 5.1 series. Is there any makeshift driver to get it work Thanks
Oxtie
NOT to worry my friend!!!! I have a good news for you! Because I am looking for a sound card which can enable all my 7.1 speaker system, I had a little chat with your friends at M-Audio and here is their response ============== We have several devices for Intel systems - in fact most of them are compatible. Once "Universal" drivers were released, we no longer had to distinguish Intel and Power PC. Please contact sales@m-audio.com for any presales questions you may have. ============== Edit: OK BAD NEWS ULTIMATELY, they say the driver is PPC only

macgirl
NOT to worry my friend!!!! I have a good news for you! Because I am looking for a sound card which can enable all my 7.1 speaker system, I had a little chat with your friends at M- I have the M-Audio Sonica Theater 7.1 USB card, it does not have drivers for Intel, but the real scenario is that it doesn't need them, you can set up the amount of speakers right in the Audio Midi Setup app on the Utilities folder, in my Powerbook the only advantage of the "divers" is that you can se a Surround sound and other "effects". In any case most of the Mac Apps don't use multichannel sound.
