I've just bought a new sony vaio nr laptop. Wanted to use the iatKos v1.0r2+Equate patch to install, but it didn't recognize my hard drive. When I went to disk utility, there is nothing there.

Tried to put the empty fat32 partition in the primary partition, don't work. Formatted the whole disk, won't work.

Then I realized, iAtKos doesn't see my hard drive at all, not to mention the partition on it. It seems to be a SATA drive problem, people have been reporting change the SATA drive to compatible mode in BIOS, i.e. change it to AHCI etc, but my bios is phoenix bios which won't let me do it.

So I am pretty much stuck in here. Any help is appreciated!

try setting your SATA controller to AHCI mode in bios, that might solve your problem.

Thanks smorf!

Unfortunately, my vaio laptop has a crappy "Pheonix Bios" which doesn't allow me to do this. Thought about get a bios editor for it, then feel it is too risky. And get a Kalyway 10.5.2 instead, which boots and installs well.

Kalyway doesn't even show the driver for me in Disk Util...
