Hi everyone,

I'm new to this whole OSx86 thing, so please be kind if possible.

I've got the Kalyway disc which I thought I'd fire up and see how far in the process i'd get without messing with patches and things. The disc boots, it loads up Darwin fine, then it changes the resolution to 1024x768 and just sits at a black screen. There's no further disc activity. I've tried it with the '-x' command and the 'cpus=1 -v -f'. I don't get any errors that I can see, it just hangs. Can anyone offer advice on what to try? My specs are:

P4 3Ghz with HT

512Mb Ram

Radeon 9250

SiS-648fx Motherboard with SiS661/fx Chipset

Are these specs incompatable with OSx86 or is there anything else I could try to get past the blank screen?

thanks for any and all advice offered

Your Pentium 4 may have SSE3 instruction set (P4 since Prescott) , but you need to have a multicore CPU to have EFI emulation. You'll need EFI emulation for the Darvin Bootloader to work.

I'm sorry but do you have a multicore processor? That might work.

Which version of the Kalyway disc do you have? Some reported that it works, but that depends on your version. You might want to try out other kernels under installation options just before you start the install and if there's an EPI option, that'll be what you should avoid checking. Play around with the choices.

You can give Leo4All 10.5.2 installation disc a try. It is said to work with P4. You'll have to play around with the options such as what to install and what not as above before starting the install. Good luck!
