I have installed the "Mac OS X 10.4.8 [JaS AMD-Intel-SSE2-SSE3 with PPF1]" On my PC.

I did everything by the manual ( partitioned, formatted with mac osx DVD to journaled and installed the right plugins from the JaS DVD in the customization windows ( AMD stuff and drivers ) and the installation was ok.

When booting after installation it let's me chose between darwinx86 and windows, i've chosed the darwin and it's just stuck on the grey screen, i did it again with -v mode and it shows that it's stuck on the :

"still waiting for root device"

now i've been searching the forums for the right answer and found nothing, any help would be appreciated.

How did you format the hard drive?

Seems like I had to run Kalyway hard disk format disc in order to make it bootable.

at least it solved my problem.

I formatted with the same JaS DVD I used for installation,

what is the Kalyway hard disk format disc ?

anyone else care to advice ?

Hi!... maybe this is a bit off topic, but... i've the same problems at the installing but just in my computer, i tried to install it into my mom's laptop and it worked perfect (loading and appearing the install screen) so... the disk is not corrupted... but, also, i tried to install it by VMware into my dad's notebook (directly from the iso by virtual dvd) (cause i downloaded the ISO from there and before burning it, i tried to test it...) and appeared the same errors... i couldn't get the install screen...

So... is not about the disk or driver where you are installing the os... but also is not that the iso is corrupted...

i have tested alot the dvd install into my computer, and sometimes the errors doesnt show and appears the install ... but is pretty choppy (and/or sometimes appears the install and say that i cant install and i have to reboot)... (since my pc is old up to now Pentium4 1.8GHZ and 512ram)...

anyway... i dont know what's the problem... but at least, i give up... i can't install mac on my pc... cause i have too much too lose trying (and also there's the fact that i share this computer with my bro... x__x)

that's my cent... lucky with your EPC =)

and sorry for my poor english... =S

You'd better try another OSX release. I had the same problem and the only one that worked for me was Uphuck's 10.4.9 V2 r3

The latest of their Tiger releases.

The root device error has to do with some drivers which are not available on other releases
