m.carroll
So, I'm getting ready to order and build my Hackintosh. So far I've put together a little list of parts: Asus P5K Deluxe WiFi Motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813131182 Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q6600 http://shop3.outpost.com/product/5101696 EVGA 512MB nVidia 8600GT http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814130292 GeIL 4GB DDR2 800MHz RAM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820144216 LITE-ON 20x DVD±R Burner http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16827106228 500GB SATA Hitachi Deskstar I've heard that the Asus boards are very picky about which RAM it likes to use, and I wanted to make sure this RAM I've picked out is compatible. Any Suggestions? Moreover, is this the correct motherboard for me? I'd like Dual Gigabit Ethernet, WiFi, and the possibility of upgrading to a 45nm processor in the future. Is there a more suitable replacement? I plan to do some mild overclocking, so a 450-500 Watt psu will be in order (with possible upgrades later). Thanks for any suggestions! vaporATX
Mine seems to like whatever ram I feed it. I started off with some cheap Crucial ram. Then some Crucial Ballistic which was garbage and I sold. Now I'm running some 2.2 volt mushkin 4-4-4-12 that I'm able to get down to 3-4-4-8 with. Frickin' flys! Had no problems with any of it.
