Alright, I just swithced from Kalyway's 10.5.1 DVD to Leo4all. Leo4allv3 installed great, and I am enjoying a fully updated system. However, I am surprised in some of the changes, and I have 2 here that I wish to discuss. The first, is my DVD/CD driver not working, I will grab the specs for that in a moment. THe wierd thing is Kalyway reconginzed it, so i guess it is a matter of having the right Driver (Kalyway had a ton). Once I get the specs of my Drive, I would like some help with that.

Secondly, and less importantly, I can't change keyboard settings. IN Kalyway's Distro I tehre was an option in System Configuration to edit Keyboard and Mouse settings. That option isn't available in Leo4allv3. Is that becauase Leopard doesn't recognize them (even though they work? Another Driver issue perhaps?) I would appreciate some feedback. Most specs are in the sig, but I have an HP dv9000, in case you wanna look up the option.

Basically, some information would be appreciated here. Thank you!

Well what interesting about leo4allv3 is that eddie redid the installer for that disk. I'm not totally surprised your missing some things. Normally the way these disks are made is by slipstreaming the updates into them. I think that is what eddie did but then he fixed part of the installer and thats why it has these little issues. I had noticed it installed much differently then kalyway 10.5.2 which was simply slipstreamed updates and kept with original installer.

I dont know how you can get back the keyboard and mouse settings but I believe it is a preference pane that could be installed somehow. Dont ask me how though. As for the dvd drive that is really weird and could be simply a kext for a controller you need to install. What controller do you have? Is it ICH7, 8 or 9. There is a kext from dune that should help you there. Do a search for ICHx by dune. Install that and it might fix it.

Hope that helps.

Alright, I got the specs for my CD/DVD Driver from SIW on Windows.

CD ROM PIONEER (DVDRW)DVR-K17B

It is the Pioneer DVD rom drive.

Thank you for the response! I will get back what kext I have, and perhaps will try an experimental install of Kalyway on another Partition, and see what is different. From what I understand, Kalyway had a ton of drivers, so that is why my DVD drive was probably picked up. I will do what you suggest, thanks!

For anyone else who is interested in helping, and if you know what driver would work for that DVD drive, I would love the help, because Leopard without DVD is only so useful. Although it is a step up from not having internet.

Thank you!

Edit: 00Diabolic, you are AMAZING!!! I downloaded the ICHx and installed it, and it worked! Like, amazingly well! Omfg, I can't quite explain how happy I am. Thank you so much! Now I just need to make sure my system isn't going to die on me with the new Kext, but until then, thank you SO MUCH!
