Cyrus85
I am following the Maxxuss guide for installing 10.4.4 and i have run into some issues. One is the post install directions are some what confusing. I did what he wanted me to do but then he had a list of commands in the terminal listed below. I was wondering if i have to run that in terminal because i did it manualy by draging and pasting it in the places he discribed. Also the kernal part do i have to have it in a folder called "MyPatchedKernels" on the 10.4.4 top directory or do i have to move it somewhere else. Finally after the succesfull install he states to do repair permissions but when i go to it in the diskyutilitys i am unable to do it because it is dimmed out but i can do it for my 10.4.3 install on a diffrent disk. After skiping that step i re-started and it boots into the darwin boot screen where it waits for 10 secs for you to press a key. At that point i press a key and then enter "-s" for single mode and nothing happens. I seems like its not loading up and i dont know what to do. I would really apreciate it if someone can help me out on this. I forgot to add this but the directions i am talking about is inbetween step 7 and 8. R. Bear Helms
His patched kernels need to be changed to the name mach_kernel, and need to replace whatever one you have at the "root" of the 10.4.4 volume. This usually means /Volumes/mac_osx_10.4.4/ - whatever the mounted drive name is for your 10.4.4 disk. The extra stuff he says to do after the patch is a terminal session. The last bunch of stuff he says to do is what you'd type in after booting the 10.4.4 volume and pressing F8 before it loads, then typing "-s" to get into single user mode. Then the rest, the fsck -fy command and so forth, are typed in at the console you'll see after single user mode is finished booting and is ready for you. There's no GUI shown - it will be a full-screen terminal session. NET
there are two kind of prepatched kernels so loock out what you are copying (INTEL and AMD) and the best way is to put the patches on the kernel by your self. afther finishing in single mode and reboot you should see the normal gui Cheers Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/10319-maxxuss-directions-for-1044-install-fails-to-boot-after-installation/#findComment-70101 Share on other sites
