Quad Boot?

Ok so i want to set up my system to quad-boot. I have 150gig hard drive that I partitioned like this:

 

 

1. 30 gig nfts (for windows xp media center)

2. 50 gig ext3 (for ubuntu 8.10)

3. 40 gig hfs ( for osx86 lepoard )

4. 30 gig nfts ( for vista!.... )

 

 

So my question is , in what order should I install these so I can boot all of them?

I dont know what the second one is... I would install it this way.. I use Acronis Disk Suite 10, which is amazing.. But yeah, i would do Media Center, Vista, OSX, then the last one.. I dual boot, and i do Media Center then OSX, with no problems..

Ok,let's be serious...Sure,I will do this,but there is one more thing:theoretically,when you install ubuntu,the grub bootloader will detect automatically Windows Vista and Windows XP and will be available on the Grub bootloader.But for Leopard,you just need to add the entry

 

title Mac OS X 10.5.x
rootnoverify (hd0,1) #depends on where you have installed Leopard
makeactive
chainloader +1

 

in

 

boot/grub/menu.lst

 

and you are done.You will have four OS's without messing with nothing (no Selector)

 

Interesting boot...

 

PS:I said theoretically because I haven't tested this with 4 OS's.I did this without problems with Ubuntu,Windows XP and Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.0.If this works,maybe you should make a guide...

-vista first, make partiton for mac

-then mac install

- get vista install disk - click repair

- download Easy BCD add mac partition

 

you can do xp or linux, just make sure you go back to easy bcd after each one to restore bootloader and add the next OS

Cool! It's great to know that this has been done before. I was accually thinking about penta-booting with windows 2000 in there. I might steal a couple of gigs from xp to make another partion........ P2000camaro, ubuntu is a linux distro, the thing that is what osx is built on and the thing that pretty mutch runs the whole internet. (By the way, its completely free!!!). And XxpTuX i think i will make a guide...........

Make the guide.If you want to do the insanely "penta-booting",you can do it with the easyBCD as Aggg45,or use the Grub bootloader from linux (with Grub,you can make a n-booting system just adding a new entry as I described:just like that).Good luck (and buy a 1Tb HDD )...

now your just getting cocky why would you need 3 window OS's - XP mainly does it all, if you was going to pent Boot I would go for a very small linux distro which boots very fast example* quick Internet for acsess on the go - DSL comes to mind

ok ive decided to go with easy bcd because it looks rather.....well, easy. aggg45 the reason i was thinking about 2000 is that its soo mutch faster than xp or vista. Now that you mention DSL i might put that on there too (hexa-boot?.....ok im getting carried

away ). XxpTuX, nice computer...8gigs of RAM? ...when do you accually use that?

Easy with easyBCD?.It doesn't matter how,the important thing is do it...When do I use the 8 Gb?.Mainly,when I am rendering animation on maya (of course,on Red Hat.BTW,not listed on my signature:1Tb HDD plugged before boot )

windows 2000 and xp have very little difference in boot time IMO if you really want to increase OS speed RAID is the way to go, tweaking the bios helps and disabling other devices at startup helps also limiting the number of start-up apps... or if your a real speed freak get a igabyte I-Ram (ram storage)

 

other than that quadboot is very feasible (long but can be done) expect the installation to quite tedious (recommend watching a long film while doing this)
