Bocki
hey there, i recently installed 10.4.5 on my desktop - everything's working fine... except my onboard sound. i took the drivers from 10.4.3 8f1111, but when loading them with kextload, i get an error saying "Kext has a kernel dependency prior to version 6.0 and CFBundleVersion does not match executable's MODULE_VERSION" - if i put this in my extensions folder and reboot, my computer won't start anymore due to an kernel trap (see this thread for more information, this guy seems to have a similar problem: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=5769) someone told me to use the 8f1099 kexts, but i can't seem to find them - if anyone could provide me with these, this would be awesome... i'm also thankful for any other directions, i wanna keep os x, but i can't live without my music... regards, Bocki Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/10213-alc880-wont-work/ Share on other sites
DS
My ALC880 works perfectly by completely removing AppleHDA.kext and by editing the Info.plist in AppleAzaliaAudio.kext from 10.4.3 (8f1111) to add the right device ID. Try disabling audio in your BIOS to get your system booting at least and get rid of the AppleHDA.kext. Bocki
actually, it looks like alc880 is a {censored} to run - as soon as i power off my computer, i don't get sound anymore. i first have to start my pc with sound enabled, delete the Kextcache, reboot. Then OS X will crash, i need to restart with sound disabled. As soon as the login comes up, i can reboot again, this time with sound enabled. looks like i won't power off my pc for a looong time. :censored2: Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/10213-alc880-wont-work/#findComment-63973 Share on other sites
DS
Try this: Start with sound disabled in BIOS. Delete Extensions.kextcache and Extensions.mkext. Run the following as root or add 'sudo' in front. kextcache -e -z -a i386 kextcache -k /System/Library/Extensions -z -a i386 Reboot and enable the sound in your BIOS. Save the BIOS and boot normally. It should stick for each reboot after that, until you modify your extensions directory or delete the kextcache/mkext. autoy
Have any of you had success with line in and out? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/10213-alc880-wont-work/#findComment-69361 Share on other sites
jseldon
*EDIT* Got 2 channel output working finally - turns out I had the wrong AC97 kext version I know some people have had success getting this working with multiple channels, but I'm at least pacified now I can listen to music. Hmm, I'm having similar problems with 10.4.5 and ACL880 not working. I've tried all of the suggestions I could find here but have had no success. I'm running a Foxconn 915A03-G-8EKRS (7.1 Channel Realtek Audio) and can't even get 2 channels working. My bios has two options for onboard sound, Azalia and AC97, I have tried disabling and enabling all possible combinations without success. I've removed AppleHDA kext, made sure the vender/device id's are ok and still nothing. I don't even see it trying to be inited at boot time however so I'm a little confused. Any ideas? Everything else works great. Thanks. James Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/10213-alc880-wont-work/#findComment-72261 Share on other sites
