nvidia mobile chipset device id confusion.

hi all,,

 

i have a dell vostro 1500 hackintosh with iatkos 10.5.1.

 

i thought everything was fine, my graphics were installed as nvidia 7600gt 512 mb with qe and ci,,,until i realised,,,i bought a 256 chipset with my laptop (scratches head)

 

so i booted into windows, where i confirmed i to be a 256 card,,,,but under windows device properties,,there were conflicting reports claiming the card as 7600gt and 8600gt.

 

 

booting back into osx,,,i checked the device id which has always been 0407.

 

 

upon googling that,,,,,i find it to be the code for an 8600 card?!?!

 

 

so,,,back to windows,,,,download gpuz to find i have a 256mb 7600?

 

 

 

 

does anyone know what i have????

 

 

thanks in advance everyone.....i need to know as i'm trying to get svideo out to work, and it's hard to find reference and resources when i can't be 100% sure about the graphics card.

this just got more important folks,,cos i've successfully updated to 10.5.3 (thanks to kalyway),

 

but now my graphics are displayed as 'unknown device'

 

I still have qe and ci, but a bit of tearing etc.....

 

can anyone help???
