Would a 13" MacBook really be that painful...? That would let you run any OS you like for any reason you like... just don't upgrade the RAM at the shop or it'll cost a bunch. Install Windows from a retail disc you have (We won't go into how you get that retail disc) into Boot Camp and use that at work (And it'll run Fine), have Parallels installed (again, we won't go into how you get that) on the Leopard side so you can do work stuff AND run Leopard (without a hitch) at home. Plus Leopard tends to work out-of-the-box with the Apple Remote when you run it on Apple Hardware. Actually it tends to work out of the box with anything on Apple Hardware. You wouldn't get full multi-touch, but you would at least get 2D two-finger-scrolling.

I beg you to reconsider. If you don't want the full price, get second hand, ex-demo-stock or a rent-to-buy deal.

Or is this all because you have a 12.5" bag...

i just don't get why anyone would buy a non macbook or macbook pro if they're buying a new machine today... even if you decice OSX is trash, it will run windows natively. they're actually better machines and usually end up costing less than the competition, wake up and save yourself a headache/hassle.

I have Leopard running on my HP Compaq NC2400. I installed iAtkos2.0i on it. It's pretty maxed out 2GB of ram, 80 GB hard drive, DVD-DL burner. Got sound working, I have a Linksys wireless PC slot card recognized as a Airport extreme card. I have a extended capacity battery that I get about 4 hours out of it and it doubles as a handle for holding the machine. The single speaker sounds like {censored}, so I use USB headphones. It's a duo core machine but I only got one working. The machine is extremely light about 3 pounds.

Decent performance, I use it as my main machine. Running Adobe CS3 Suite and Final Cut Studio 2 a lil bit slower than my other Hackintosh (a 2.2 ghz Duo Core HP Compaq 6710b).
