Language issues

I have a problem. =/

 

First of all, when going into "international" from System Preferences. It takes forever to get there. And once it's there, I select an asian input method, then whenever I try to type - it takes about a good minute or two to have the character show up.

 

I've searched around for a fix, but can't seem to find.

 

Any help would be appreciated.
