Hi to all,

i have installed Kalyways version of leopard 10.5.2 and there were no problems there...on first boot i see the welcome video and select my language options etc and then i am asked about importing data from another mac etc which i do not intend to do...so i select do not import data and press next...then after 10-20 seconds it goes back to the welcome video and im stuck in this loop.

i have been unable to find much information on other users experiencing this although i saw that someone had suggested SMBIOS.kext permissions might need repairing so i ran disk utility and used the repair permissions tool to find no change.

any help would be very much appreciated.

my hardware is:

motherboard - abit IN9 32X max (Nforce 680i)

Processor - intel X6800

Memory - 2gb corsair Dominator

HDD - 150gb WD Raptor (2 partitions - vista and OSX)

Optical drive - IDE DVD drive (because my SATA drive would not work)

Graphics - nvidia 8600gt

Thanks in advance... i hope someone can enlighten me on where im going wrong here.

thanks for the link, i tried everything i could from it like diconnecting ethernet, disabling ethernet, even tried disabling firewire and usb, tried usb keyboard insted of PS2 and tried installing again with no network drivers but still no different. if anyone has any ideas please shout up, il definately giv them a try.

thanks in advance

Here's a quote from the german section of this forum:

Solution 1: Importing an account from an existing (Tiger) installation.

Solution 2: Booting with the flag "Graphics Mode"="640x480x32". The resulting low screen-resolution prevents the setup screen, thus skipping the "loop". As one is not able to create a new username, only the default "admin" is created. This can be changed later on.

Solution 3: Some people reported success with disabling the network card in the bios or disconnecting the cable.

Solution 4: Boot using "-s" flag then type ->

/sbin/mount -uw /

passwd root <- Type any password you want

touch /var/db/.AppleSetupDone

reboot

Mybe you should try the 4th one

it did work thank you! works pretty flawlessly except for the motherboards lan ports. using the forcedeth kext i can get it to actually detect the networking capabilities but it wont actually work. dont suppose you no of any ways to get nforce 6 networking fired up do you? i did find an updated version of some soft of the forcedeth drivers but it made no difference. thanks for your help with the previous issue, was driving me mad as nice as the welcome video is.
