First of all, here's the system specs:

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600

Foxconn MARS mainboard

eVGA nVidia 8800GTS PCIe (320MB)

2x Western Digital SATA 200GB

1x Western Digital SATA 80GB

2x Acer AL1716 17" LCD

Ok, so, start with, I did a default install with all the network/video/sound/chipset drivers in place. Install was flawless. First boot, got some kexts which couldn't run due to missing hardware, so I went back to resinstall and removed the stuff I though was appropriate.

Issue & Solution 1:

Issue: "Still waiting for root device"

As it turns out, the chipset may be p35 but the SATA controller is not, its a VIA of some sort. I don't know which chipset driverset worked, but I installed them all and that solved that problem. Additionally, doing the "Legacy Mode" in the bios worked too, but it slowed the OS down something fierce.

Issue & Solution 2:

Issue "No PS/2 Keyboard w/vanilla"

Welp, I found the answer on here for that. I just dropped the USB mouse onto a USB->PS2 adapter, booted up and installed with Vanilla and it worked perfectly.

Issue Needing Solution 1:

No boot up or logoff screens ... instead of the pretty grey and apple, I get the text read outs ... ewwww. How do I get my screens working?

Issue Needing Solution 2:

At startup I get this error telling me that laptopdisplay.kext is bad or something like that. How do I disable that kext file?

EDIT:

1. Is there anyway to use the home/end keys? (not using ALT+Arrow)

2. Is there anyway to utilize the extra buttons on my Intellimouse Explorer?

3. Anyone know how to make the CPU show in "About this Mac" instead of the "2.4 Ghz Unknown"?
