Marky Mark
I've tried installing Final Cut Pro 5 and everytime it tries loads it gets to the splash screen then the program quits on itself. I have no idea why this does it and would like to fix it but have given up for now (since I can't find any answers). I then deleted it and installed FCP 4 but when it tries to load it says it is missing the AGP video card. After that it also quits the program by itself. How can I get 1 of these to work? Because you need an AGP graphics card that has accelerated QE/CI/OGL.
Marky Mark
I have a decent PCI card, will that not work? Do I have to have an AGP card?
dio
Hello, I've seen your post only now. To undrestand your plroblem I've a little question : what's your release 10.4.8 or other?? Do you have QE and CI enabled?
track09
No, PCI will not work. QE doesn't work on the PCI interface, and AFAIK, the few modern PCI cards there are, none of them have GPUs that are compatible with QE.

jaminmc
If you don't have a "built in" Ethernet card in your network interfaces, then it will do that. I figured this out when I put a gigabit card in my HackMac. and disabled the motherboards Ethernet controller. The fix: As long as you have a working Ethernet on your computer, Load up terminal. type in: sudo rm /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist Reboot. That fixed mine. Final cut uses the MAC address of the builtin ethernet card for locking it to your computer. So When I take my firewire drive that I have OSX and Finalcut on, and boot it from a different computer(g5's), It askes me for the serial numbers and stuff all over again. isabelle_ringer
I just got my new iMac and was VERY sad to see I couldn't open FCP. I tried everyone's tricks but it wasn't working...until I realized you must open the plist with TextEdit. I found the answer here: http://screenplayer.sg/?p=
bennybassman
Thanks dreadroksean - I had the same problem with AGP graphics card error, but deleted text as you said & it works!!
