I've tried installing Final Cut Pro 5 and everytime it tries loads it gets to the splash screen then the program quits on itself. I have no idea why this does it and would like to fix it but have given up for now (since I can't find any answers). I then deleted it and installed FCP 4 but when it tries to load it says it is missing the AGP video card. After that it also quits the program by itself. How can I get 1 of these to work?

Because you need an AGP graphics card that has accelerated QE/CI/OGL.

i had the same problem.

locate ur FCP in the apps folder.

ctrl click the icon and choose "Show Package Contents".

open the "Contents" folder.

open the "Info.plist" icon

delete:

<key>AELRequiredIOPCIDevice</key>

<string>AGP</string>

restart the app and it should work. did for me.

If you don't have a "built in" Ethernet card in your network interfaces, then it will do that. I figured this out when I put a gigabit card in my HackMac. and disabled the motherboards Ethernet controller.

The fix: As long as you have a working Ethernet on your computer, Load up terminal.

type in:

sudo rm /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist

Reboot.

That fixed mine. Final cut uses the MAC address of the builtin ethernet card for locking it to your computer. So When I take my firewire drive that I have OSX and Finalcut on, and boot it from a different computer(g5's), It askes me for the serial numbers and stuff all over again.
