boredboard
System preferences, audio, input\ just slide the input volume slidebar... mac easy.. The only control there is the gain slider. There is no control for the boost circuit. Sound cards and USB audio devices often have built-in +20 dB amplifiers that amplify the signal without adding noise. Does the gain slider really control both the programmable gain and the boost at the same time? I doubt it. The two gain amps are independent, so the level would jump around randomly as you moved the slider. Is there really no way to turn on this amplifier from OS X?
