Hi, I've been following the great guide in this thread: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/309654-run-vanilla-os-x-el-capitan-sierra-yosemite-or-mavericks-in-virtualbox-5010-on-a-windows-host/

The CSI.tool uses hdiutil and therefore needs a Mac to run. I was wondering if there is a way to make the same changes to the sierra installer from a Windows desktop?

Thanks...

Thanks pippox0

I am trying to use VirtualBox. Maybe I am doing something wrong then?

I have taken the Sierra installer (folder structure) and created an iso on a windows box using IsoCreator.

I created a VirtualBox VM called macOS and set the following parameters:

VBoxManage setextradata "macOS" "VBoxInternal/Devices/efi/0/Config/DmiSystemProduct" "MacBookPro11,3"

VBoxManage setextradata "macOS" "VBoxInternal/Devices/efi/0/Config/DmiSystemVersion" "1.0"

VBoxManage setextradata "macOS" "VBoxInternal/Devices/efi/0/Config/DmiBoardProduct" "Mac-2BD1B31983FE1663"

VBoxManage setextradata "macOS" "VBoxInternal/Devices/smc/0/Config/DeviceKey" "ourhardworkbythesewordsguardedpleasedontsteal©AppleComputerInc"

VBoxManage setextradata "macOS" "VBoxInternal/Devices/smc/0/Config/GetKeyFromRealSMC" 1

Then when I boot the VM from the iso, I was expecting the installer to run, however the UEFI loader boots me into a shell.

See the screenshot below:

This is where I was thinking I needed to run the CSI.tool to create the iso, but it’s hard to source a Mac to do this so was looking for options (scripts?) to do this on a Windows device.

Any other suggestions to get the installer running?

Do I need to put ##### into my image to be able to boot the Installer on Virtualbox?

I have found it can use the "InstallESD.dmg" file directly to boot with Virtualbox, but I still don't see the installer start, it is open in a UEFI shell with nothing happening.

Any suggestions on what the next step here is ?

Thanks

Edit: got the forum rules, was also thinking if I needed Clover in the image to hit the right boot sector, but maybe it's just that my image isn't properly bootable since it's a straight copy of the install app folder rather than running one of the scripts or tools to make the .dmg bootable?

It still seems strange that it boots into a shell though.
